PHOTO LIBRARY - 'ASSET BANK'

The British Council has its own, searchable web-based image bank called the Asset Bank. The Asset Bank contains thousands of images – all of which were taken in and around British Council offices and feature British Council programmes, customers and staff. All images in the Asset Bank are downloadable directly from the site in a number of formats and resolutions.

You can access the Asset Bank by going to: http://assets.britishcouncil.org

Images must always be credited with the correct copyright information, usually the name of the photographer and/or image library, for example: © Joe Cornish/Alamy

Commissioning photography on behalf of the British Council

If, as part of your design commission, you have been asked to manage and organise a photo shoot, please ensure that the photographer licenses the British Council to use the photographs on any future British Council publication (not just the current project - try and ensure you negotiate a global buyout). Please use the Photographer’s contract as a basis for commissioning a photographer. Please also ensure that we have permission to reproduce any recognisable people (please see the Data protection process chart and forms), together with any third parties associated with a person or item photographed and any recognisable buildings featured in the photograph.

To download any of the files, right-click (Windows) or control-click (Mac) the appropriate icon below and choose the 'Save Link As ...' (or equivalent) option.
